Conclusion - End of Book Group Meetings
The book's ending gave me an explanation on why Tim O'Brien may have reacted the way he did to death but otherwise gave me little to no closure. I say this because even after I read the entire novel, I still could not pinpoint why the author wrote this book in the first place. I don't necessarily think every single book written needs to have a moral lesson of the sorts but I was expecting a larger message about war or his experiences - maybe both. But then again, maybe the author's point was to just tell his story regardless. I just wish the novel had more of a fluid consistency rather than leaning more towards disorganized.
I can't say I'm satisfied with my book selection though I don't think it was a terrible book either. The descriptions in the novel were wonderful and the way Tim O'Brien portrayed humans and their emotions was very nice too. This particular novel just didn't strike me as amazing compared to novels I've read in the past.
Overall, this book club unit was well done. I don't have suggestions for changing how Mr. Dennis had the meetings happen as I personally think it was fine how it is. It's just more of the students keeping up with their workload and actively contributing to the group.
